Yamanashi, Japan
Capital City: Kofu
Closest Airport: Narita Airport
Population: 884,531
Resort Area: Kiyosato
Snow Season: Nov - April
Main Language: Japanese
Currency: Yen
There are only three snow resorts in Yamanashi. All three are of a similar size comprising half a dozen lifts and runs up to 1500 metres.
Snowfall here's not a match for the mighty dumps of other areas in Japan and resorts rely on snow making throughout the season to keep the slopes open. Terrain is pretty limited too.
That said, there are still plenty of people on the slopes at the weekends, thanks to Yamanashi's proximity to Tokyo. And if you're more into blue skies than powder turns, this place might just be your cup of tea.
