Värmland, in west central Sweden, may not have the vertical drop or the insane snowfall of Lapland , but there are a handful of reasonable resorts here that will keep a grin on your face for a good few days.
Â
The best known of these is Sunne. With just 10 pistes amounting to about 6 kms of terrain, downhill action is a little limited. But if you're into jibbing and perfecting your jumps, there's a good terrain park here. The resort of Branäs (which also has a decent board park) fares better in the downhill stakes, with a vertical drop of over 400 metres. As well as 17 pistes, Branäs also has about 30 kms of cross-country terrain and night skiing (if you can stand the evening temperatures).
