Two New Lifts At Valmorel (24-Oct-11)

Family friendly Valmorel in the French Alps is making a major investment in new lifts ahead of the ski season.

The new eight-seat cabin Pierrafort gondola starts from the hamlet of Crève-Coeur and arrives at the bottom of the Mottet chairlift.

In addition the new Combe du Morel chairlift is a six-seater easy-access chairlift starting just below the current Morel drag lift and arriving at the top of the Arnouillaz.

Eurostar, the high speed passenger service linking the UK and mainland Europe, has today opened ticket sales for its direct ski services from St Pancras International and Ashford International to the heart of the French Alps.

This earlier launch makes it easier for skiers and boarders to compare prices and services with airlines and confirm travel plans.

Saas Fee which re-opened for snowsports two weeks ago had to cancel the The Saas-Fee Ride 11 summer Freeski competition they had planned.

Les 2 Alpes summer ski area is staging a ‘Snow Electro Fest’ from 28 - 30 July.

Described as, “a fun weekend at Les 2 Alpes with freestyle skiing and snowboard competitions and an electro-music DJ at 3,600m above sea level it will be a real festival on Les 2 Alpes glacier.” by a resort spokesperson, the Electro Fest will take advantage of the facilities available until late August at one of the world’s largest summer ski areas.

There will be some big changes at les arcs next winter with a superb new spa at Arc 1950 and the remarkable Edenarc accommodation development at Arc 1800 but on the slopes too there’ll be a few improvements.
