As a midwestern state without any towering mountains of its own (the highest round here is 540 metres or 1,772 feet), Missouri isn't the most obvious skiing or snowboarding destination in the US. When you think of Missouri, you think of cornfields, not snow-capped peaks.
However, there are a couple of ski resorts in Missouri, both within easy access of the cities of Kansas and St Louis. So whether you live here or you're just visiting, it's not beyond the realms of possibility to squeeze in some snow time.
There's little to choose between the two resorts - Hidden Valley and Snow Creek. Both share a similar vertical of around 92 metres (300 feet), both have around 30 skiable acres of predominantly intermediate terrain and both offer snowmaking and night skiing.
Snow Creek is about 40 minutes drive from Kansas; Hidden Valley about the same from St Louis.
