You might not spend an entire week skiing or snowboarding here, but there's a reasonable range of terrain across the four principle ski resorts in Connecticut.
The state doesn't have much height - Mohawk ski resort's 200 metres (650 feet) is as dizzying as its gets. But the season starts early (in the last six years, October has barely had time to shed all its leaves before Woodbury ski resort has cranked its lifts into life) which makes it the perfect place to dust off the cobwebs before heading anywhere bigger. It also makes it a great training ground for beginners.
Woodbury is the only resort with any serious steep. Unfortunately, with just 100 metres of vertical (300 feet) it's all over a bit quick. Still, there's a decent terrain park here. You'll also find terrain parks at Mount Southington and Ski Sundown.
